Franchise Development Planning
This is most commonly done through a series of meetings
with management. A final planning session conducted off-site for senior
management can solidify plans that will be shared with remaining staff. Plans
are outlined for growth of the brand as well as a summary investigation of
skills that will be needed and where these will be acquired.

Operations Manual
The OM is a document that explains the process each
franchisee must follow for opening their location, conducting daily operations,
and filing periodic reports with the franchisor. This is a confidential
document provided to each franchisee. It is customarily on loan to a franchisee
in good standing but remains the property of the franchisor and must be returned
in the event of termination. The OM contains trade secrets and business
practices that, when followed, result in a profitable operation under the brand.

Draft UFOC Preparation
Uniform Franchise Offering Circular – NOTE: The UFOC is a
legal document and will
require an attorney experienced with franchise law. My service will save on
attorney’s fees as they expend less time reviewing and updating the UFOC. I
will work with your accountant/CPA/CFO to create the necessary financial
statements.

Training Materials
A critical component of a franchise system is training
prospective franchisees on the daily operations and reporting requirements. The
OM is one component of the training materials. I can prepare an instructor
guide and training manual to facilitate the training process. Although online
or remote training may seem like the way of the future, it is essential that
initial franchisee training be conducted in an environment where you or your
trainers can evaluate the likelihood that each prospect would make a good
franchisee. A successful franchisee must be willing to follow your system;
otherwise, they will be a headache to you in the long run and cost you more than
the benefit they provide. In addition to your basic training, you would need to
provide ongoing training to keep your franchisees aware of changing laws, market
conditions, and operational procedures.
